A Brief History of the United States- 1871 Book by Joel Dorman Steele - Published 1885, Post Civil War Publication- Barnes Historical Series

Great condition for an 1885 publication, written for teaching about the settling of the United States. Joel Dorman Steele was the author, it was originally published and copyrighted in 1871, as the Civil War was ending. This popular history book was used in schools as a teaching tool. It was republished in 1879, 1880, and 1885, by A. S. Barnes & Company. Printed at the Eclectic Press in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Valarie Keeler, This copy has ornately embossed front and back cover boards, with Gold lettering on the front and a large embossed monogram on back board. Given this copy is 140 years old, the illustrations,and color maps are in wonderful condition. The paper used is smooth and satiny to the touch. This would make a wonderful addition to any history collection.
Condition: Some written notations on inside front and back boards ,( Valarie Keeler, 1974, is written on the front backcover, while Maud Fretrick, Alba, Michigan may have been the originally owner) the binding is in very nice condition, moderate shelf wear on the edges
