A unique circus clown from the 1950s or 1960s. The body is red and white striped cotton with two red felt hands. The body is frayed at the bottom with a small loose thread. The fabric has some wear, plus, fading in some areas. The head is made out of rubber and has painted facial features looking like Boso the Clown. It has striking bright blue eyes. There is a small spot of white paint at the back of the head. This hand puppet shows a loving past, and probably a history of regular use, but he is still a charmer.
It could easily be revamped into an entirely new puppet or even better loved again, as is. It would make a great gift for someone who likes clowns, hand puppets or collects either of them.
Measurements:
Length of body (from fingertip to fingertip) - 9.5"
Length of head - 2.5"
Height (from horn on head to bottom of body) - 8"
Width - about 2.5"
