This Easter Egg, most probably created lots of excitement, for some little child, when it appeared on Easter Morning filled with goodies. (The swooning duck design may have even been perfect to give a to a sweetheart) These eggs are paper mache and were very popular for 60 years, from the 1920s through the 1980s. Each year, before Easter, the paper eggs would be taken to a local store, to be refilled, for opening Easter morning. The eggs would be full of chocolate treats, little toys, jewelry, or cosmetics nestled in cellophane Easter grass. Post WWII these eggs were in all the new suburban homes at Easter. Eventually, their popularity gave way, to larger than life Easter Baskets marketed by every retail outlet.
This egg is a small, medium size which fits nicely together. This one would be a great way to present an engagement ring in.
Size: 6.5" long x 4.25" wide
Made in Western Germany
