Back: The Sailfish, "crown prince of the Gulf Steam" is a picture of grace and buoyant life, its large web-like dorsal fin, rising to a height of 1 1/2 to 2 feet, is magnificently colored; its brilliance comparable only to the beauty of a peacock's tail. When this tantalizing gamester is finally induced to pick up the bait, it leaps into the air, skids on its tail, and performs unbelievable marine gymnastics. Average size: 5 to 7 feet long; weight, 35 to 60 pounds.
