"Tap Roots" by James Street was published in 1942. It is the second book in the "Dabney Family Saga." The series is based on the true story of the Free State of Jones (AKA Lebanon) in Missouri, and the armed revolt against the Confederacy led by Newton Knight and takes place during the Civil War. The endpapers feature a map of the area as well as an illustration of the Dabney family tree.
The pages are in great shape, there are only a few errant pencil marks inside, but other than that they are clean with no tears and no foxing. The front hinge is damaged and the gauze is exposed. Initials are written on the title page in pencil and there is a note written in pen just after the front endpaper. This note is dated October 21, 1942 and is signed, but based on the readable letters in the signature, it is not signed by the author.
