1952 Book "That Boy Johnny" by Evelyn Ray Sickels, illustrated by Jean Martinez, 120 pages, good quality, no marks in the book,binding is great, has dust jacket, paper inside has some yellowing from age. In general Excellent condition This was a " Weekly Reader -Children's Book Club" Education Center - Columbus 16 Ohio, selection. Which meant it was recommended for children, mailed to children's homes, to foster reading skills. The Members of the club would get 6 books a year, plus a bonus book. The books were always very reality based, relating to life experiences children would understand. This story is about a young farm boy, who has a pet lamb, Mischief. It was written in the 1950s but the story, actually about the author's uncle, with the story taking place in the 1880s. The originality of the 1870 to 1890's conversational English found in this book is delightful.
