This Christmas ornament was likely created during or shortly after the Great Depression when whatever a person had around them was used "upcycled" with little to no waste. Often this is labeled, "Tramp Art" as the U.S., in the 1930s, was full of struggling people, especially, homeless traveling men, looking to make a dollar to survive. They would use everything from match sticks, pop cycle sticks, greeting cards, bottles, sea shells, orange crates or tin cans to make interesting and functional items which could be sold to the passerby. The creativity behind this ornament can be easily seen, and the care given to create it is obvious in the precise cuts and bends that fashions it into an angel caroling with a book. If you ever wonder where do it yourself books came from, this angel is an example
With all vintage items, wear and tear is to be expected. There is slight discoloration of the beads, as well as on the metal of the can top.
