This postcard depicts the beautiful Battle Monument at Bennington Center, Vermont at sunset. The Battle of Bennington is commemorated at this monument, which was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. It is also the tallest man made structure in Vermont. This postcard is in great condition with minimal staining on the back.

Back Text: "The Battle Monument at Bennington Center, Vermont, is a magnificent shaft of gray-blue dolomite, thirty-seven feet square at the base and, including the metal star at the top, 306 feet 4 1/2 inches high. The entrance hall, twenty feet square and thirty-nine feet high, is a landing for the stairs. Between the entrance hall and grand Lookout floor there are thirty-four flights with 412 steps. The architect was I. Phillip Rinn of Boston. The cornerstone was laid on August 19, 1891. It commemorates the Battle of Bennington, fought on August 16, 1777. The cost of the monument was $112,000.00. The highest Battle Monument in the world."
