This is a very interesting piece! It is a set of four photos, two on each side, and they are held together like they were pages in a photo album. Some of the binding can still be seen. One side features a two portraits of two different men, and the other side features a portrait of a man and a portrait of a woman. On the side with the man and the woman portraits, it looks like their names were written at the bottom of the photos to identify the individuals, but this was written in pencil over 150 years ago, so it has faded to the point that it is not completely readable - though it looks like the man and woman have the same last name. All four individuals are well dressed and the men all have different styles of facial hair. None of the individuals are smiling, as was common in most photos from this time period, as the subject had to sit still for quite some time while the photograph was being taken. These were likely taken in the 1860s or 1870s.
